Hello! If you're interested in working with me, I'd ask that you read through these disclaimers first. It's not an official TOS but it includes important information about what you should expect from me and what I expect from you.
Timing
- I will send WIPs through most stages of the process, especially with more complex commissions. Minis and sketches get very few revisions because of the lower price point and faster turnaround.
- As of writing, I will be splitting my time between commissions and job hunting. If I miraculously get a full-time position lined up sooner than expected, I will reach out to clients to discuss deferred delivery or a refund.
Payment
- Payment for orders $50 or less can be made through Kofi. This option does not provide any buyer protection.
- For pieces over $50, I generally send out a Paypal invoice. I take half payment after the rough sketch has been completed, and the rest after the final product has been approved.
- You're welcome to send more than 50 over Kofi if you want, but keep in mind that this is counted as a donation. The only way to get a refund is for me to manually send it back.
My process
- Some info on your character is helpful for adding some more personality to the piece. Feel free to include a link to a Toyhouse profile or a (SHORT) blurb about their personality and interests.
- The quality of the reference you provide me is proportional to the degree of accuracy/control over design you get. For very simple designs like "a blue jay wearing jeans and a black tshirt," a written description is perfectly acceptable. Collages, free to use bases/Picrews or even something hastily pulled together in MSPaint are all acceptable for fairly simple characters. If your character has a very complex design, I will need a detailed ref sheet.
- I frequently eyeball colours and may tweak them to fit my style or the lighting.
- Rendered portraits use a "broken colours" technique and will therefore not be ref-accurate.
- Unless you ask for a specific style, I will draw animal characters relatively true to their real species. You can visit my gallery for examples – if there is a particular piece that you’d like me to draw something similar to, please include it :) If you do not like that I draw anthros this way, please do not commission me. Both of our time would be spent better elsewhere.
Use
I’m generally pretty lax about using my art how you want, but commissioning art does not buy you the legal rights to the piece. I ask that you not reproduce my art for commercial purposes or use it for image-to-image generation/diffusion model training*.
*I realize pretty much all images on the internet are scraped for training data, but this is a personal boundary. If you can’t respect my wishes I would rather not work with you.
